SOLID WASTE UPDATES

The Refuse Department will pick up your bulk waste items such as furniture, appliances, etc., make sure all items are out to the curb by 7a.m. on Wednesday.

The City of Edgewater’s Solid Waste Division is very diligent in keeping the City safe and clean. Occasionally, residents or tenants leave an exorbitant amount of garbage, trash or yard waste that exceeds “normal and/or routine” pickup quantities. In such cases, a representative of the Solid Waste Division will attempt to contact the resident or property owner to inform them of the additional charge to pick up such items. This additional charge will either be paid at City Hall or added to the utility bill. In the event that the resident or property owner is not able to be readily found or contacted, such items will be photographed and then picked up in order to keep the garbage from becoming scattered and/or creating a safety hazard.  Charges for this additional pickup and disposal will be added to the utility bill associated with the address that garbage is located.

YARD WASTE

Our refuse department is working hard to keep up with the items and yard waste placed by the road. We encourage residents to bag or contain their yard waste as much as possible. Picking up individual piles of sticks and other small vegetative items takes a lot of time and slows down the operation. However, if you can put those items in a container that our employees can pick up and empty into the trucks, it greatly improves our ability to provide timely service. Remember, we commit to picking up ALL bagged and contained yard waste EVERY Wednesday (excluding holiday weeks). The uncontainable piles of vegetative debris are picked up on a continual route.  Progress slows this time of year when the number of piles increase. So remember, if you can contain it, we can grab it... every Wednesday.
