City of Edgewater Park Avenue Booster Station

Construction of improvements and resiliency upgrades to the City of Edgewater’s Park Avenue Booster Station are being financed by a 100% principal forgiveness loan for $3,960,000 from the Supplemental Appropriation for Hurricanes Fiona and Ian through the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF).  The program is administered by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection with joint funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the State of Florida.

During Hurricane Ian, the station was out of service for an extended period due to flooding, old/outdated equipment, and lack of proper emergency power. The outage resulted in a lack of pressurized water service for residents within the area of the Park Avenue booster station. The improvements will enable the city to better maintain water supply and pressurized service during hurricanes and extreme weather events.

The project includes new structural, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation structures and components that will meet new hurricane impact and wind load component and cladding requirements, have impact doors & windows, be constructed above the 100-year flood plain elevation, and provide Class 1 reliability and operational redundancy. The station will be outfitted with emergency power and automatic transfer equipment, new electrical switchgear & power distribution equipment, remote telemetry and automation for completely remote, autonomous monitoring and operation.

Drinking Water SRF programs operate around the country to provide states and communities with the resources necessary to maintain and improve the infrastructure that protects our valuable water resources nationwide.
