Resignation of Councilwoman O'Keefe

The City of Edgewater is announcing the resignation of Councilwoman Megan O’Keefe. Councilman O’Keefe is relocating to a nearby city and thus resigned, effective June 6, 2022, as she will no longer be a resident of Edgewater.
Councilwoman Megan O’Keefe was elected via Special Election on August 6, 2018 to serve the remainder of unexpired term vacated by Councilman Dan Blazi who resigned due to relocation out of the area. Councilwoman O’Keefe qualified for the District 3 seat for the November 2018 election, ran unopposed and was elected on November 6, 2018.
Councilwoman O’Keefe was an ardent supporter of the City’s EDGEfest special event series, particularly those events raising money for the Local School Scholarship Fund. She and her family participated in the Wreathes Across America event each winter that recognizes veterans interred in local cemeteries. Councilwoman O’Keefe provided strong and steady guidance as the City navigated through the COVID-19 pandemic and the associated challenges it presented to municipal government.
While her term as a public servant has come to a close, she will remain a steadfast supporter of and an ambassador for the City of Edgewater. We thank her for her service and wish her well in her future endeavors.
Councilwoman O’Keefe’s term was due to end on December 5, 2022. The City Council is seeking applicants from her district (District 3) to complete the remainder of her term. Applications will be available on the City’s website (www.cityofedgewater.org) and in City Clerk's office. An application, along with copy of driver’s license and voter registration card, must be submitted to the City Clerk no later than 4:00 PM on June 22, 2022. The City Council will review the applications and make the appointment at the July 11, 2022 regular meeting.
