NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF EDGEWATER TO CONSIDER THE ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION 2014-R-08 RELATING TO COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AND FINDING THE EXISTENCE OF BLIGHT CONDITIONS IN AN AREA OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN pursuant to Section 163.346, Florida Statutes, that on Monday, May 5, 2014 at 6:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as practical, the City Council of the City of Edgewater will hold a Public Hearing at the Council Chambers, 104 N. Riverside Drive, Edgewater FL 32132, at which time it intends to adopt a resolution in accordance with Section 163.355, Florida Statutes, finding that blight exists in an area of the City of Edgewater, and further finding that the rehabilitation, conservation, or redevelopment, or combination thereof, of such area is necessary in the interest of public health, safety, morals or welfare of the residents of the City of Edgewater.
The blighted area is located in that part of Edgewater along and adjacent to Ridgewood Avenue (US-1), generally contained within the boundaries created by the Edgewater City Limits on the north, Florida East Coast Railway on the west, Falcon Avenue on the south, and Riverside Drive along Park Avenue on the east, containing approximately 400 acres and is more particularly depicted below:
The City Council seeks approval from Volusia County that the blighted area meets the criteria described in Chapter 163, Part III, Florida Statutes and requests delegation of authority to create a Community Redevelopment Area and Community Redevelopment Agency, and to adopt the Community Redevelopment Plan and establish a Redevelopment Trust Fund. A Community Redevelopment Plan has been prepared in accordance with Section 163.360 and 163.362, Florida Statutes for approval from Volusia County to allow the City of Edgewater to move forward with the adoption of the Community Redevelopment Plan.
The City Council may continue the public hearing to other dates and times as it deems necessary. Any interested party shall be advised that the dates, times, and places of any continuation of this or continued public hearings shall be announced during the hearing and that no further notices regarding these matters will be published.
A copy of the proposed Resolution, Finding of Necessity Report and Community Redevelopment Plan may be inspected at the City Clerk’s Office, 104 N. Riverside Drive, Edgewater FL 32132, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, except legal holidays. Interested parties may appear at the meeting and be heard with respect to the proposed Resolution. Any person who desires to appeal any decision made during the public hearing will need a record of the proceedings and for this purpose may need to ensure a verbatim record of the proceedings is made which includes testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is based.
