Legal Notice - March 2, 2015 CRA Meeting

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING BY THE CITY OF EDGEWATER COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY TO CONSIDER RECOMMENDATION OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT PLAN TO CITY COUNCIL

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN whereas Volusia County has adopted a home rule charter and it is necessary for the City Council of the City of Edgewater to obtain delegation of the powers conferred upon the County by the Redevelopment Act, so that the City may exercise the authority and powers conferred by such act within the Community Redevelopment Area in the City. On November 20, 2014, the Volusia County Council approved County Resolution 2014-159, delegating redevelopment authority to the City of Edgewater.

Pursuant to Section 163.356(2) and 163.357(1)(a), Florida Statues, the City Council of Edgewater approved City Resolution 2015-R-08 to create the Edgewater Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) and City Resolution 2015-R-09 to appoint City Council to be the CRA. The CRA will hold a Public Hearing at the City Council Chambers, 104 N. Riverside Drive, Edgewater FL 32132 on Monday, March 2, 2015 at 6:00 P.M, at which time it intends to receive from the City Planning and Zoning (P&Z) Board that the City of Edgewater Community Redevelopment Plan (“Plan”) is in agreement with the City Comprehensive Plan and recommends to City Council to adopt the Plan, in accordance with Section 163.360(4) and Sec.163.360(5), Florida Statutes.

The Community Redevelopment Area is generally contained within the boundaries created by the Edgewater City Limits on the north, Florida East Coast Railway on the west, Falcon Avenue on the south, and Riverside Drive along Park Avenue on the east. The majority of the boundary is within a couple of parcels east and west of Ridgewood Avenue (US-1). The Community Redevelopment Area is approximately 400 acres consisting of 509 parcels, which is 2.8 percent of the total City area of 14,411 acres (see Map).

The scope of the Plan generally encompasses programs and facilities related to remedying blighted area conditions, improving the appearance of the area, and implementing various transportation and capital projects including but not limited to roadway, intersection, streetscape, drainage, utility and recreation improvements (a more specific description of the area and scope of the Plan are available in the City Clerk's office).  

The CRA may continue the public hearing to other dates and times as it deems necessary. Any interested party shall be advised that the dates, times, and places of any continuation of this or continued public hearings shall be announced during the hearing and that no further notices regarding these matters will be published.

A copy of the proposed resolutions, ordinance and the Plan may be inspected at the City Clerk’s Office, 104 N. Riverside Drive, Edgewater FL 32132, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, except legal holidays. Interested parties may appear at the meeting and be heard with respect to the proposed resolutions and ordinance. Any person who desires to appeal any decision made during the public hearing will need a record of the proceedings and for this purpose may need to ensure a verbatim record of the proceedings is made which includes testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is based. Persons with disabilities needing assistance to participate in any of the proceedings should contact the City Clerk’s Office 48 hours in advance of the meeting at (386) 424-2400 ext. 1101.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF EDGEWATER TO CONSIDER THE ADOPTION OF RESOLUTIONS AND ORDINANCE RELATING TO COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT IN AN AREA OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER
