Welcome to the City of Edgewater Department of Fire and Rescue Services web page. We hope
the site provides you with the information that you are looking for as well as information
about your Fire-Rescue Department.
Your Edgewater Fire-Rescue Department is what we consider to be a "full-service" department,
providing a multitude of services to the community. The Department has a rich history that
began as a volunteer department in 1948. It was originally composed of area businessmen and
residents volunteering their time to serve their community. Over time, the department has
transitioned into a combination organization of career and volunteers alike. The majority
of the personnel today who proudly serve our community are either currently volunteers, or
were at one time volunteers prior to being hired as career members. Another unique attribute
to the department is that the majority of the members are also residents by choice of the
City of Edgewater. When these men and women respond to your time of need, they are not just
responding to do a job, they are responding to assist a neighbor. Your Edgewater Fire-Rescue
Department provides a multitude of services to the community through not only the dedication
of the personnel within the department, but also through the tremendous support of our
community.
Your Edgewater Fire-Rescue Department not only responds to fire incidents, your firefighters
are trained and licensed to provide advanced life support services to you and your family
when the need arises. By having the ability for to provide Advanced Life Support services,
it is almost like establishing a portable emergency room at your emergency, with an average
response time of four minutes or less. Your fire department will respond to a variety of
situations, including emergencies and non-emergencies, which require our assistance to make
our hospitality city a much safer and better place to live.
